XX 1090am Intangibles Interview

In Interviews, Uncategorized on December 13, 2012 at 2:35 pm

Last night, I was a guest on Coach John Kentera’s talk show on XX 1090 am, San Diego’s Sports Talk leader.  Coach Kentera has coached baseball at the high school and college level and he’s been passionate about covering amateur sports in San Diego for as long as I can remember.  I was impressed with how prepared he was for our interview and with the quality of the questions he asked.  You can listen to the entire interview by clicking on this link:

Intangibles on 1090 with Coach Kentera

The book was the main topic of conversation, of course, but Coach asked me about the importance of visualization, about how Major League and Minor League players respond to mental skills coaching, and he even asked me how I handle the pressure of standing in front of a Major League audience when I present!  I thought the most interesting question Coach Kentera asked was about what professional athletes are really like in private, which gave me an opportunity to talk about Bobby Kingsbury’s story, a perfect example of how Intangibles tells a different story about sports psychology than you might expect.  I wrote about Bobby in my chapter entitled “An Introduction to the Mental Game”, which you can read in my free sample chapters.  More media updates to come!

Geoff Miller’s book, Intangibles: Big-League Stories and Strategies for Winning the Mental Game — in Baseball and in Life, was released in August, 2012. For more information and free sample chapters, please visit:
